Like most lake towns in France, Yvoire dates back to pre-Roman times, but it is mostly remembered for its status and importance during medieval times as a port town on Lake Geneva. You can still see the medieval castle which sits near the Yvoire port. Today it is very touristy but still lovely and quaint and worth an afternoon to visit. It’s only about 30 minutes from Geneva and about an hour or so from Annecy. Here’s an overview video of this lovely French lake village. If you want to see it yourself, then join us on our summertime French Alps Tours. Yvoire is our first stop on the tour.
