Travel Planning
If you are considering a trip to France and have spent some time on the Internet, you will know there is an insurmountable amount of information available. Worse yet, most of the people writing the articles you are reading have never been to the areas they are writing about, and most certainly have never lived there.
Time is valuable for all of us, whether it is excessive time planning a trip or losing valuable vacation time by not selecting the right itinerary. I can save you time and money and hopefully turn a “good trip into a great trip” by providing information that I know by having done personal research myself, attended the events, visited the cities or towns, stayed at the hotels or gites, and ate at the restaurants. If I haven’t personally experienced it, I probably know someone who has. You’ll see from my blog and videos that I’ve been to several regions of France and have always been traveling on a strict budget.
My particular area of expertise is Southeast France, having lived there for two years and traveled extensively throughout the region, by train, car and motorcycle. For this region and for other areas where I’ve traveled, I can customize your itinerary to include accommodations, transportation options, wine tastings, cooking classes, local markets, museums, out-of-the-way villages, and sightseeing recommendations. I can find you a personal guide in larger cities, and can escort you myself in some of the smaller villages like Chanaz or Chambery.
Want to go chocolate tasting in the mountains overlooking Annecy? Would you like to visit a Fromagerie? Attend a festival and parade celebrating the descent of the pasture animals for the winter? How about attending a magnificent light festival where the entire city of Lyon is transformed into a magical Neverland of Lights. Or stay at a spa hotel in the second largest spa town in France (there are many hotels to choose from)? Would you like to hang glide, or perhaps fly through the Alps’ trees attached only by a wire? Do you need a customized map for the best motorbiking itineraries in the region? Perhaps a visit to Caverns or tips on the most beautiful and unique scenery in the French Alps region? Want to visit a walnut oil mill or take a boat ride on one of the many gorgeous local lakes? Would you like to ride the second steepest graded Funiculare in Europe? I can provide information and customized itineraries on all of this and more.
I can help in many ways including:
If you already have set up your itinerary but need advice in the best possible way to optimise your travel plan.
If you want to focus on particular interests like architecture, castles, churches, museums, arts, music, festivals, natural parks, hiking, mountains, lakes, food, wine, and much more.
Design your day by day itinerary and activities with special landmarks to be visited or must-see festivals.
Tell you the best times to travel and how to pack.
Book the most desirable and best suited accommodation for your needs: room in hotel, gite, farm-stay, bed and breakfast.
Advise you about the best restaurants and the local food and wine you definitely should taste.
Your itinerary and recommendations will be organized and presented to you in a region-specific Guide Handbook with your customized trip recommendations, reservations, contact information for accommodations, restaurants and guides, train schedules and prices, recommended ‘things to see’, and much more. The cost of your travel planning is dependent on the number of travelers, destinations, the variety of itinerary items you want to see, your length of stay, and if you want me to personally escort you on any of your sightseeing.
