Grant Writer, Editor
If you read my personal written posts, you know that before I left Los Angeles to move to France, I was a professional fund raiser for non-profit agencies, specializing in grant writing. In fact, I still have a contract in Los Angeles and return regularly for meetings. I have decided to expand my practice and, to implement this, I will begin spending seven months a year in the United States, specifically Florida, as of August, 2011. In preparation for that move, I am announcing once again my availability as a grant writer. If you work for a non-profit agency (501c3) in the United States and would like to hire a grant writer (otherwise called a proposal writer) to write and submit funding requests to local or national private foundations, please contact me to discuss your needs. cynthiacaughey(at)yahoo.com
What are my qualifications?
I have been writing grants and fund raising since I was a program director in 1985. I was also a non-profit Executive Director for eight years before starting my own business as a fund raiser and grant writer in Los Angeles in 2000. I was very successful and had so much work that I had three subcontractors working for me to keep up. I was able to raise over $12 Million for my ten agencies from 2000 to present. I have written both government grants and private foundation grants. For the time being, until I am living half-time in the U.S. again, I will focus on private foundation grant writing.
If you don’t know of foundations in your area, I can do searches for you. If you have grants already written but they have not been successful for you, I can also review, edit and make suggestions to improve the grant. I can do both Letters of Inquiry and full proposals. I can also brainstorm with you on program design.
My areas of specialization include: homeless shelters, domestic violence, affordable housing, youth programming and gang prevention, drop-in centers, supportive services at housing facilities, transitional housing, community development and advocacy, health and nutrition education, women’s health, wildlife rehabilitation, and chronic homelessness and substance abuse or dual diagnosis issues.
Please, like all ethical grant writers, I do not work on contingency, commission or a percentage of the grant amount received. Foundations and governmental funding sources look very poorly on this practice and it would put your agency at risk for future funding.
Grant Writing Coaching:
I’m designing a 3 to 6 month grant writing coaching program which will provide the following:
Assist you in defining your project and funding need; determine your goals and outcomes; develop a needs statement; explain the differences between a concept paper, Letter of Inquiry or full proposal/grant; show you how to find and identify funding sources; review actual funding source guidelines and teach you how to follow them; write a Letter of Inquiry and a Grant proposal; how to say thank or do follow-up; I will review your proposal draft with suggestions for improvement; provide ongoing email support for up to 6 months after the coaching program ends.
If you’re interested in this program for your non-profit agency, contact me for additional information. cynthiacaughey(at)yahoo.com
I look forward to assisting your non-profit agency with your fund raising needs so you can continue to serve your community. I have spent the past 30 years in the non-profit world and am committed to your work and helping the clients you serve.
For My European and Non Native English Readers: Other services I offer are proofreading and editing. Do you have a document that has been translated from another language into English by a non-native speaker/writer and you need to ensure that the translation is in proper English? Do you want to fine tune or make a marketing piece more effective or concise? Have you received feedback from your English-speaking clients that your marketing documents, menus or product descriptions are not correct? I can rewrite them in proper English so your clients will be impressed. My fees are very reasonable.
I look forward to hearing from you. Cynthia cynthiacaughey(at)yahoo.com

Buon Giorno Cynthia!
My name is Victor Carcioppolo I am on the BOT of CardioStart-International. We offer compassionate heart surgery to the less fortunate in third world environments. We have been operating the charity on a shoestring budget and have had a plethora of requests to serve in many other environments, but are restricted because of funds (or lack of them). We would like to secure a grant/proposal writer to be more susatinable and to be able to outreach more.
Grazie,
