The stunning basilica that you can see sitting on the hill from almost any point in Marseilles is the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde. It was built in the 1800′s on a site where a 13th century church once stood. It has an lower church and an upper church of the Neo-Byzantine style. It is quite beautiful inside and provides the best views of the city and the coast. You can drive to the top or walk the grueling walkway up from the city, which many do as a spiritual pilgrimage.

Stunning beauty in the Basilica – I’d love to see that. How long is the pilgramage walk up the mountain? Also watched the “Zombiecon” – well that was something! That little boy was truly disgusting (not the kid himself) And so, where was your costume??
