With winter upon us, I wanted to remember warmer times during this summer when we had enough sun and heat to take a boat ride. Aix les Bains’ port offers boat rides on Lake Bourget – some short, some long, and some venture into the canals to the little village of Chanaz. We took the 1.5 hour boat ride that stops at the Hautecombe Abbey and then returns to the Aix port. It cost almost 12 Euros but gives you a good overview of the lake and some of its nature, ecology and legends. The guide spoke French and Italian.
